About
Caroline
Adair
Mental Health Intern
Hello and welcome! I'm Caroline. I'm a counseling intern pursuing my Licensed Professional Counselor credential. Born and raised in California, I moved to El Salvador following my undergraduate study to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I then journeyed to Upstate New York for graduate school, and I now hang my hat in beautiful Portland, Oregon.
I work with adults in individual and relational settings. I offer individual counseling for concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, personal and sexual identity, and post-trauma. My relational approach is primarily trauma-informed, strengths-based, person-centered and cognitive behavioral while embracing somatic theory, parts work and systems approaches. I tailor treatment to each client’s needs.
My role is to assist you in reaching your goals by providing nonjudgmental support and helping to facilitate your journey, whatever form it may take. I strive to empower you and assist you in expanding healthy awareness, rather than to give you advice. My philosophy is rooted in empathy, embracing of neuroscience, and guided by a belief in collaboration and the importance of meeting people where they are.
Outside of counseling, I'm also a passionate cook, writer, and genealogy nerd. I enjoy good food, reading, live music, and I am over the moon joyful to simply spend time around the people with whom I'm closest.
